History:

The Prinz Eugen had the distinction of being the only major German capital ship to survive World War II. She participated in several famous sorties, including the sinking of HMS Hood and the Channel Dash. Prinz Eugen was awarded to the United States as a war prize, and after extensive study, she participated postwar atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll. While Prinz Eugen proved extremely tough, was contaminated by radiation and was allowed to sink.
