History:
By far the largest Battleship of WW II. With a maximum displacement of 71659 tons was the Yamato class Battleship, she was also the heaviest armed and armoured of all battleships. This great ship was built in complete secrecy and it was not until very late in the war that it was found out how large and powerful she really was.

Feed Back From the Customer

I wanted to express my appreciation of this kit and the craftsmanship Battlers Connection has shown with all the products they manufacture. The IJN Musashi (Yamato) Ship kit I recently purchased from Battlers Connection is of superb quality. However this is a very complicated ship and I would never recommend it to a beginner. That said anyone who has built combat ships and wants to step up to the big ships should seriously consider this "beast". The hull is very thick and strongly constructed and also very accurate. It is the thickest hull I have had to cut out yet! I would dare say that it is the most accurate 1/144th scale Yamato class hull I have seen to date. Included is a fiberglass deck with three large main hatches and a fourth small one at the stern. This is constructed of as thick a material as the hull and once joined the structure will be super tuff. The superstructure parts and turrets are resin and fiberglass and also very strong and should be virtually impregnable to BB's. The shapes of these parts as well as the AA gun mounts are beautifully replicated. The plans that are included have three views: top, side and hull side only. The hull side view is probably not necessary, but still good for double checking your measurements against. The plans are equally accurate and the fine detail shown is very useful to captains such as I who love adding that extra detail.

So in conclusion if you are looking to build a large and powerfull battleship then the Yamato class should be on your list of possibilities and as you can probably tell by now the Battlers Connection Yamato class kit gets two thumbs up and a five-star rating from me!  Most sincerly,

                                                                                                     Chris Osborne, New Brunswick Canada

** BC NOTE:  Yamato ship kits are being re-designed and are currently not available.  Also, due to recent extreme increases in the cost of fiberglass board, all new deck kits will be constructed from wood.
