Aoba and her sister ship Kinugasa were originally planned as the third and fourth vessels in theFurutaka-class of heavy cruisers. However, design issues with the Furutaka-class resulted in modifications including include double turrets and an aircraft catapult. These modifications created yet more weight to an already top-heavy design, causing stability problems. Nevertheless, Aoba played an important role in World War II.

Very nice hull layup. Molded armor belt. Thick, strong hull. Should be a very nice cruiser.

The Battlers Connection Aoba hull arrived and is very nice. The hull is thick with very clean lines. No need to clean up the deck line on this one. The hull is well worth the price. The Battlers Connection crew are great to work with!
