History:

The very first battleships in the world to mount 16 inch main batteries. These ships were also among the fastest battleships when completed and had fairly heavy protection. During the war they had their deck armor extensively upgraded and were among the most powerful of the older battleships during WWII. The Mutsu was lost to an internal magazine explosion during the war.

    I ordered the Nagato ship kit as a scale model to use around the twin lakes area in north central Arkansas. We have a large amount of tourist traffic and waterways/public ponds, so model boats seems fitting. The ship is large, at a little over 5' long, and has nice-fitting resin superstructure pieces and turrets. The hull is really nice all around, with smooth detail, and is very durable. Sub-deck and main deck require trimming, but this is typical of large models, and is part of the fun. It will be a stunning ship. I will be back for others.

    Rudders were bought along with a Nagato kit, and they look great. They should work just as well.
